Dr. Erica T. Garcia, LPC, is a proud member of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of 2000, a native South Texan, and first-generation college graduate. She earned her B.A. in Theatre Arts from Texas A&M Universitywhile dabbling in acting, directing, stage management, and props mastery. Dr. Garcia graduated from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in 2010 with an M.S. in Counseling and in 2015 with a Ph.D. in Counselor Education. She also previously served the students at Texas A&M University-Kingsville as Career Advisor and is honored to have traveled through the A&M System from Aggieland to the Island and Javelina Nation.
Dr. Garcia joined the TAMUCC First-Year Learning Communities Program as a Professional Assistant Professor in Fall 2014. She very much enjoys being part of this impactful program that assists First-Year Islanders with their transition to college. When possible, Dr. Garcia loves to infuse career related topics into the seminar experience to spark student interest in the great journey of life after graduation.
In her spare time, Dr. Garcia is blessed to serve the Body of Christ through her involvement at her current parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Corpus Christi and her home parish of St. Anthony of Padua in Robstown. She also enjoys karaokoe, a good journaling session at the beach, and cuddling with her fuzzy children, Nico the Handsome Kitty, Libby the Feline Queen, and Rocket the Scraggly Dog.
